Affective foundations of aesthetic Illusion
Bauhaus University WeimarThe lecture deals with the question of what is meant by “aesthetic illusion”. The distinction between aesthetic and epistemic illusion will function as an important prerequisite. Furthermore, it will be argued for the thesis that cinematographic illusion – as aesthetic illusion in general – is founded in affect. Without immersion, there is no illusion. A comparison of the time-based medium of film with the space-based medium of the Habitat Diorama will then also take into account the media-specific formations of aesthetic illusion.
