Scaffolding the Interactive Imagination

Strategies for Designing the Complex Cognitive Spaces of Digital Storytelling

This seminar series poses inter-related questions about representation and reality, the role of interactivity, and the possibilities for narrative innovation. I will consider these questions  by offering theories of what a medium is and what are the affordances of the digital medium, and by arguing that VR is no more "real" than other media of representation. I will review potentials for creating coherence in complex multi-sequential narratives and show some recent projects from my lab to explore how digital strategies can help us to share more inclusive and complex stories.
